Functions of Pretend Play Cash Register
Every function you add sells better in the listing and costs more to certify. The base unit is a cash drawer that opens and closes; on top of that come a working calculator keypad, a microphone, a simulated scanner with light and sound, and spoken pronunciation for language learning. A real calculator is worth the extra cost — sticker versions look cheap in review photos. And the function list decides your compliance scope: sound means acoustic testing, and in the US the voice circuit pulls in FCC requirements. Confirm it before sampling.

A toy cash register is a battery-powered toy that makes noise, so the file is heavier than it looks:
- EU — EN 71-1, -2 and -3, plus EN IEC 62115 for electrical safety and the EMC Directive for the electronic circuit. Battery requirements under Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 apply from 18 February 2027; rechargeable electric toys are exempt until 31 July 2030.
- НАС — ASTM F963 and CPSIA, plus 16 CFR 1505 for electrically operated toys and FCC Part 15 for the digital circuit that drives the voice function. The CPC is issued by you as the importer; we coordinate third-party lab testing and review the report against the finished product before it is signed.
- Sound pressure — EN 71-1 sets limits for toys that produce sound. A till with both a microphone and a speaker sits directly on this requirement, and it is the most commonly missed test in this category.
- Battery shipping — built-in lithium cells ship as UN3481 under PI967 Section II. You need the UN38.3 summary for the exact cell model in your unit plus an MSDS, and air freight is capped at 30% state of charge.
- Age grading — most units are graded 3+. Coins, fruit and grocery accessories are small parts, so the accessory set has to clear the small-parts cylinder if you want that grade.
A failure in any one of these holds the whole shipment, not just the part that failed. We check them at sampling.
English & Spanish & Your Language Modes
Most cash register toys in our network ship with English, Spanish and Arabic language modes, which covers the majority of retail markets. The voice module reads numbers and item names aloud when a child presses a key, so the toy doubles as a pronunciation learning product.
If you need a language that is not in the standard module, we can develop one.
Custom language modes carry a minimum order of 3,000 pieces, because the voice chip has to be re-recorded and reprogrammed. Confirm the language list before sampling — changing it after the chip is specified means starting the project over.
OEM with Accessories

We highly recommend our mini cash register series. We specifically designed these with a “compact-but-functional” concept. They fit into smaller packaging to significantly reduce your FBA storage and shipping fees (DIM weight) while still offering a real working cash register for kids experience.
Most of our B-end buyers choose the real working cash register for kids. It features a fully functional 8-digit calculator that helps kids learn basic addition and subtraction. We do offer sticker versions for ultra-low-budget promotional orders, but we don’t recommend them for brands.
Definitely. Since most learning cash register models require batteries, we provide all necessary UN38.3 or related battery test reports to ensure your sea or air freight passes customs smoothly without being flagged as dangerous goods.
The fast route is not a new mould. Put a distinctive accessory set — miniature organic groceries, wooden-style plastics, a themed shop — around an existing chassis and sell a premium grocery set instead of a single till. A new sculpt only makes sense once the volume justifies the tooling.
MOQs for existing designs typically run from 24 to 200 pieces per model, depending on the accessory set and packaging. Indicative FOB prices run from around $3 to $8 for a standard plastic unit, with large wooden checkout counters reaching $15 to $60. Production takes 30 to 60 days depending on season and customisation. Custom language modes start at 3,000 pieces because the voice chip has to be re-recorded. Sea freight is around 25 to 35 days, air freight 7 to 10 days.
